We are looking for a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to work on RNA biology in mammalian cells. The position is in the laboratory of Dr. Jernej Murn in the Department of Biochemistry at UC Riverside and is fully funded by NIH and NSF grants.

A successful applicant will take a lead role in projects within the scope of the lab's main areas of interest, which include post-transcriptional control by RNA-binding proteins and biogenesis of non-coding RNAs.

Ninova Lab (www.ninovalab.org) in the UC Riverside, Department of Biochemistry, invites applicants for a full-time Postdoctoral Scholar position. Our research is focused in the broad areas of gene and transposon regulation by small RNAs and chromatin modifications, with a particular focus on the piRNA pathway and heterochromatin biology. The postdoctoral scholar will play a leading role in research employing cutting-edge biochemistry, molecular biology and omics approaches, providing an outstanding opportunity for interdisciplinary training and career development. We welcome candidates interested in getting involved in existing projects in the lab, as well as those interested in pursuing new directions within the broad areas of our research. 

Required qualifications for this position include:

• Ph.D in biochemistry, genetics, bioinformatics or related disciplines (the degree must be completed by the date of hire)

• Substantial hands-on experience with biochemistry and molecular biology techniques or bioinformatics

• Ability to independently design and conduct experiments and analyze data

• Evidence of scientific productivity such as scholarly articles (preprints are acceptable)

• Excellent organizational and communication skills

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

• Experience with genomics and/or proteomics methods

• Experience with the Drosophila model system

The Department of Biochemistry at the University of California invites applicants for a Junior Specialist full time to conduct applied research for the Paul Larsen Lab in Riverside, CA. This position will start on September 1, 2022. The purpose of this position is to assist in the development of plants with increased carbon capture. The final candidate will conduct basic plant growth experiments, screen for Arabidopsis mutants with increased carbon capture, grow and analyze transgenic maize plants, participate in experiments that study enzyme kinetics related to carbon capture, and assist in managing the day to day operations of the laboratory including cleaning and upkeep, ordering, making solutions, etc.

Required qualifications for this position that must be met by the date of application include: a B.S. in a Life Science field such as Biochemistry, Biology, Plant Biology or a related field.

Preferred qualifications for this position include: previous laboratory experience working on related experimentation to the project requirements.

Are you interested in improving the detection limits for pathogens? Quantitative PCR is the gold-standard for the detection of pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent of COVID-19. Your challenge is to improve the detection and quantification limits of qPCR, using plant pathogens as a model. At the University of California, Riverside, Dr. Gregor Blaha is looking for a self-motivated candidate to start immediately for a position that is funded for at least 2.5 years. You must have legal clearance to work in the US (project timeline mandates immediate start).

Your duties will include optimizing currently established protocols and establishing the reliability and reproducibility of your optimized pathogen detection. The pathogens whose detection you are improving cause significant economic damage in the citrus, apple, and grape industries. You will collaborate with scientists at the Davis Foundation Plant Services at UC Davis, and the Citrus Clonal Protection Program at UC Riverside.

Required qualification for this position is a master’s degree with relevant research experience. Preferred qualifications are hands-on experience in quantitative PCR and in the statistical analysis of its results. Ideally, you also have experience in isolating nucleic acids from plant matter.
