The biochemistry major at UC Riverside offers three areas of emphasis—biology, chemistry, and medical sciences—designed to support a wide range of academic and professional goals. Students can pursue either a B.A. or B.S. degree, both of which provide a strong foundation for careers in science, graduate studies, or entry into health-related professional programs.
In addition to a rigorous curriculum, students benefit from meaningful financial support, with many receiving grants and scholarships. The department also offers a wide range of hands-on research opportunities in areas such as molecular biology, physical biochemistry, plant biochemistry and molecular biology, metabolomics, signal transduction, and biomedical science. Students may also collaborate with affiliated faculty across campus, further enriching their research experience and scientific training.
